Copperton is nestled at the mouth of Bingham Canyon approximately 25 miles southwest of Salt Lake City, Utah. This community was started in the 1920s when the Utah Copper Company decided to build a community for its workers. Copperton is a historical landmark and is listed on the Utah State Historical Registry and the National Historical Registry.

Copperton’s officers work out of the Magna Precinct administrative office located at 2711 S Buccaneer Drive. The Magna Precinct oversees patrol operations in the community of Copperton, Magna, and the unincorporated areas of southwest Salt Lake County. This area is one of the fastest growing areas in Salt Lake County.

Three officers patrol the community of Copperton and the unincorporated areas of southwest Salt Lake County. A Property Crimes Detective is also assigned to handle crimes related to burglary, larceny, fraud, and drug offenses; this detective also handles COP (Community Oriented Police) duties including community meetings and special events, he also works with the community to find long term solutions to community problems.
