Joy Kathleen, “Kathy” Jones Harmon, age 22, was at Better Days Bar located at 726 South State Street, Salt Lake City, Utah on the night of March 2, 1976 with a friend. Kathy left the bar around midnight alone. A coat she was wearing at Better Days Bar was located at her apartment indicating she had made it home that night. She was reported missing by her parents when she did not show up for work, couldn’t be reached by phone, and was not at her apartment.
Her body was discovered on March 6, 1976 by a hiker between Emigration and Parley’s Canyon in Salt Lake County, Utah. Her body was located approximately 300 yards off the lookout toward the Mountain Dell Meadows area. She had been assaulted and died as a result of strangulation.
