System Updates

Verizon Phone Issue - 12/15/2010
We have recently added the option to receive text messages via the Twitter service by texting "follow canyonalerts" to 40404 from your cell phone. We have found an issue with users of Verizon Blackberry phones not getting these text messages even after getting a welcome message from twitter. One resolution may be to change a setting in your phone advanced settings. From your Blackberyy phone go to Options>Browser... and make sure both settings say "Internet Browser" versus "BlackBerry Browser". If this does not resolve the issue you can contact Verizon Customer Service at *611 to look into other resolution options. If you have any questions you can contact us at help@canyonalerts.org.

Changes to Text Message System - 12/1/2010
This year we have upgraded the text message system to a true SMS system to solve the issue of delayed messages. With that enhancement we will now only be sending messages when the canyon is closed or open. Messages such as restrictions on chains and 4x4 will only be sent to other subscription options. If you do want to get all messages via SMS on your cell phone text "follow canyonalerts" to 40404.
