Holladay City currently contracts with Unified Police Department. UPD is also proud to sponsor a neighborhood watch citizen involvement program.
“Neighborhood Watch is a citizen involvement program. By working towards a positive partnership between the community and law enforcement we can and will make a difference.”
Neighborhood Watch groups not only prevent crime, but can offer a catalyst for bringing better service and restoring pride to a neighborhood. The program provides residents with a means to learn crime prevention methods. Residents can speak with a unified voice when contacting elected officials or others who provide services to their neighborhoods. The program helps provide cohesiveness in a neighborhood for problem solving and communication and it helps promote belonging and pride in a neighborhood.
Neighborhood Watch programs teach residents how to observe and report suspicious persons, vehicles, and activity in their neighborhood. Our Officers want and need the assistance of neighborhood residents to report suspicious activity, or any behavior that causes a resident to feel uncomfortable. Neighborhood Watch groups can also request Officers to teach their residents classes on other issues that involve law enforcement that they may have concerns in.

With the holiday season upon us, the Holladay Precinct of the Unified Police Department would like to remind residents of a few simple steps that may keep the season from turning sour. From shopping, to gift delivery, to home safety, there are several important safety practices police officers recommend:
Finally, it is important to report any suspicious activities to the Unified Police Department at 801-743-7000, or a local law enforcement agency. On behalf of the Unified Police Department of Greater Salt Lake and the Holladay City Precinct, have a safe and happy holiday season.
Two suspects were found burglarizing a residence early Monday morning on Briarwood drive in Millcreek. The wife heard a noise and woke her husband who grabbed his handgun and went to investigate. He found two suspects taking tools from his garage and placing them in a grey Jeep Cherokee which was parked in front of the house. The owner confronted the suspects who fled on foot. The UPD responded and activated a K9 unit to search the area. While they were able to follow a short track, they lost it in the neighborhood to the south.
Shortly after the burglary was reported, a call came in to the West Jordan Police Department reporting the grey Jeep Cherokee as being stolen. WJPD responded to the home of the vehicle owner. The vehicle was taken to UPD special operations for evidence. Inside the vehicle was recovered several hundred dollars of property including a a bag of tools, a car stereo, and a Garmin GPS unit.

Special Victims Unit Detectives, with assistance from Millcreek officers, served a search warrant at a Holladay residence on a rape investigation. Items related to the alleged crime were discovered and seized.
A woman's white 2005 Dodge Neon was stolen while she was in a laundry mat with her son Sunday afternoon.
If you have any information about this incidence, please contact the Unified Police Department at 801-743-7000.For coverage of this incident, please see the links below:
The victim and her mother were at the victim's apartment when two suspects showed up with cocaine. After snorting some cocaine the victim got into an argument with the suspects over drug money owed. The suspects brandished handguns, pointing them at everyone, threatening to kill the victim along with some of her family members if she did not have the money to them by noon. Supposedly the victim and her roommate, who was also present, are prostituting for the suspects out of the apartment. Because of the victim's reluctance very little information was provided in reference to the suspects and the situation.
You may have noticed orange flags posted at the crosswalk in front of Holladay City Hall. These flags are part of an effort to improve safety in Holladay. In 2010, Unified Police Department officers did a check of this crosswalk which is located at 4600 south and 2300 east. Over two days, UPD officers issued more than 75 warnings and citations to drivers who didn’t stop when someone was in the crosswalk.
As your Chief of Police, I hope pedestrians remember to carry a flag when they’re using the crosswalk and that the flags remind drivers to yield to pedestrians. We want to make sure that our citizens and especially our children are safe. One of the most common causes of traffic accidents is drivers who don’t pay attention and exceed the posted speed limits. Following the speed limit and yielding to pedestrians in crosswalks ensures that our citizens stay safe. Because traffic safety is one of our priorities in the City of Holladay, officers are planning to visit other crosswalk locations in the near future. We’d also like to hear from you. If you know of a crosswalk you think needs a safety check or flags, please call the Holladay Precinct at (801) 272-0426.
Thanks to all of you who help make the City of Holladay a great place to live. If you have any question or concerns, don’t hesitate to contact any member of the Unified Police Department Holladay Precinct.
UPD Narcotics served a Search Warrant at an address in Holladay. A UPD Detective arranged a narcotic purchase prior to the service of the warrant. Items seized include Mushrooms, Marijuana, and $2540.00.
Holladay Units were dispatched late Saturday night on a home invasion robbery where two males with black ski masks dressed in black clothes entered the house with hand guns and put the three males down on the floor and took their wallets.
After the suspects left, one of the victims followed and was later found not far from the home and had received a gun shot to the head. He was transported to IMC.
If you have any information about this case, please contact the Unified Police Department at 801.743.7000.
It’s the holiday season and you’re heading out for a day of shopping. It should be fun, maybe even relaxing. Well, all it takes is one thief, one crime, to sour the season. This time of year a few good safety habits can help protect you.
The signs that the children of Holladay have started a new school year surround us. With this in mind, I am asking everyone in our community to pay special attention to their driving speeds in the neighborhoods and around schools. In the City of Holladay, traffic safety is one of our top priorities. We want to make sure that our children are safe as they walk to school and back home. One of the most common causes of traffic accidents is drivers who don’t pay attention and exceed the posted speed limits. Click below to see our traffic suggestions.
The signs of summer are everywhere. You can tell it’s just around the corner as the temperatures rise and trees sprout fresh leaves. But there’s another sign of summer many of us might not know how to spot until it’s too late: door-to-door scams! Just like spring flowers, there are perennial scams that seem to catch homeowners off guard every year, and could cost you a pretty penny.
The signs of fall are everywhere. You can tell it’s just around the corner as the temperatures start dropping and the leaves start to change. In Holladay, there are signs of change in the Village Center. Construction workers have been busy putting in the new roads around the Village Center. Traffic congestion at times can make one wonder when it will be over. Well just as fall is coming so is the end of the Village Center road construction. Traffic safety is our number priority in the construction zone. But in the mean time please follow our 3 “Pleas”:
This year, Holladay City will be providing both of its junior highs with full time Deputies under the SAY program along side the full time deputy at Olympus High School. Click below to learn more about the SAY program and what SAY Deputies do in the schools?
