Copperton is nestled at the mouth of Bingham Canyon approximately 25 miles Southwest of Salt Lake City, Utah. Our town was started in the 1920’s when the Utah Copper Company decided to build a
community for its workers. Copperton is a historical landmark and is listed on the Utah State Historical Registry and the National Historical Registry.
The Southwest Precinct administrative office is located at 13272 South 5600 West in Herriman. The Southwest Precinct oversees patrol operations for the cities of Herriman, Bluffdale, and the unincorporated
areas of Copperton and Southwest Salt Lake County. This area is one of the fastest growing areas in Salt Lake County with a current population of approximately 30,000 residents.
Three Officers patrol Copperton and the Unincorporated Southwest areas of Salt Lake County. Property Crimes are investigated by a detective who works from the Herriman Substation.
Major crimes are assigned to the Pooled Services Investigations Division.
