About this case:
Jack, age 54, was home alone on the afternoon of January 5, 1979. It is suspected he answered the door of his home at 1640 Mateo Way since there were no signs of forced entry. Based on accounts of events Jack was confronted at that time by several suspects planning on committing a home robbery. Something went wrong in the process and Jack was shot and the suspects fled, taking the weapon with them. Jack was found in the early evening hours by his wife as she returned home. He was in his wheelchair by the front door where he had been shot.
