About this case:

Herbert, age 75, was the founder and president of Tool Design & Manufacturing & Engineering at the time of his death. He was last seen during the day of December 3, 2000 by family members.

Herbert’s body was found by a motorist late that evening near a quarry just of I-80, about 3 miles up Parley’s Canyon. His hands were bound and he had been shot multiple times. It is estimated he was killed between 6:00–8:00pm that evening.

His 2000 gold Jeep Cherokee was found two days following the murder in the parking lot of the Little America Hotel located at 500 S. Main Street. It is presumed that the vehicle was driven from where Herbert’s body was found to the hotel by the suspect(s).
